Choragic Monument of Lysicrates

This marble monument consists of Corinthian columns arranged in a circle. It was built by Lysicrates, a wealthy man who funded musical performances in Athens.

Still well-preserved, the famous statue has numerous copies around the world - for example the Dugald Stewart Monument and Burns' Monument on Calton Hill in Edinburgh, UK.
