Hiroshima Gokoku Shrine

This large and beautiful Shinto shrine was originally built in 1869 at a different location but just like the rest of Hiroshima, it was destroyed by the atomic bombing in 1945. The shrine was rebuilt within the Hiroshima Castle Park in 1956 and it is dedicated to those who died in the WWII. It holds many religious ceremonies and other events.
