A free and quite unusual way how to get to the other bank of Thames. The tunnel links Greenwich on the south bank of the Thames with Canary Wharf on the north bank. It opened in 1902 and it replaced the ferry service used by workers who needed to reach the docks and shipyards in the Isle of Dogs.
