Calton Hill

Local nameCalton Hill
LocationCity of Edinburgh, UK

Located in the very heart of the city, Calton Hill is an absolute must-see when in Edinburgh. Climb it up to enjoy stunning views of the area - sunsets are especially beautiful here. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is often included in pictures or paintings of the city.

There are also various picturesque buildings that can be seen on the top. Most notable are the National Monument of Scotland, two observatories and the Nelson Monument.

Both locals and tourists love this hill and have protested against all attempts to recreate it into a theme park or to build a railway up.
