This sculpture commemorates the founding of Chiang Mai. There is a legend that there were three kings who formed an alliance to protect the region. It is believed that one of the kings decided to build Wat Sadoe Muang and establish the city of Chiang Mai on the place where he had seen two albino deers driving off a pack of wolves. The three kings then became a symbol of city.
